SE Generator Mechanic/Technician - Charleston, SC

Description:

Full-service distributor of power generation systems has an opening for a Generator Service Technician to repair, maintain, and install both mechanical and electrical components of industrial generator sets and/or related equipment.

Duties:

Performs accurate failure analysis and troubleshooting using sophisticated electronic diagnostic tools. Creates job repair plan based on diagnosis to include repair operations required and anticipated repair hours needed to complete repair. Utilizes electronic procedure guides and tools to determine best route to repair. Determines parts requirements to complete repair to include qualifying experienced parts for reuse and researching new parts using Williams’ and suppliers’ electronic parts catalogs. Performs authorized repairs with a high degree of accuracy. Maintains own tool inventory adequate to perform assigned repairs. Develops accurate records of repairs performed and parts used to assist in the proper filing of warranty claims and/or customer invoices. Tags removed parts consistent with AFA procedures. Responds promptly to after-hour call-out service at the request of management. Attends training programs and learns on-the-job to gain the proficiencies on existing product lines. Represents employer professionally on customer sites including speaking effectively to customers, fellow employees and other contractors. Follows all safety and EPA regulations and maintains a safe and clean work area.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years previous experience (military experience included) servicing 8.5kW – 2,500kW generators. EGSA certification is a plus. At a minimum, applicants will have a working knowledge of electrical systems and circuitry as well as some knowledge of diesel engines. This position requires strong communication skills, both oral and written, to communicate clearly and effectively with customers. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. unassisted.
